More and more people in our highly developed environment are loosing the touch with nature. They work all day in airconditioned offices, looking at computer monitors. After work they drive home in their airconditioned cars and sit down in their airconditioned homes to watch yet another computer monitor or just TV. Therefore it comes as no surprise that at least during their holidays more and more people like to experience a different way of living. Camping provides such a different way of living. It brings people much closer to mother nature than usual and brings a certain spirit of adventure and freedom. There are different ways of camping. The original form is called tenting, meaning to live in a tent. But also to travel in a motor caravan becomes increasingly popular. The third form of camping and one which is very romantic and close to nature is to travel with a house boat. Why go hunting in Alaska?
Germany is a highly industrialised and densely populated country. As much as most people appreciate the security and predictability which surround people here seemingly from all sides, as much do some people miss the spirit of adventure and freedom in this reglemented environment. Places, where such freedom and adventures can still be found today are amongst other, unspoilt wilderness. But such wilderness areas, where nature and not man is ruling, are far and few between in Germany. Most of those places are nature reserves or national parks where hunting is strictly prohibited for good reasons. The situation in alaska is completely different. The northernmost and in area biggest federal state of the US has an area more than five times the size of Germany with an overall population not even reaching 1 million people. This means, unspoilt wilderness and virgin nature is very widespread in Alaska and hunting is part of the lifestyle there. But hunting doesn’t mean a senseless and uncontrolled slaughter of game. What and where can be fished?
Deep-sea fishing in the North Sea is very popular and is always a small adventure trip since no one can know before what conditions will prevail and what the catch will be. The best time for deep-sea fishing is the warmer season from ca April till October because the prevailing weather conditions are usually better at that time of year. Because most people are not wealthy enough to own a private fishing boat, one has to charter such a vessel. Most boat owners will also rent out the fishing equipment if necessary. The most common catch with deep-sea fishing are mackerels and codfish.
